3-Miles of Widening and Resurfacing

Widening and Rehabilitation of the Bennett Creek Bridge

Improvements were centered along the existing alignment

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) desired to widen and resurface segments of the US-266 roadway section from approximately the McIntosh County Line east approximately three (3) miles to just west of the junction of SH-2 in Muskogee County. Also included with this project was the widening and rehabilitation of the Bennett Creek Bridge. This project was located south of Warner, Oklahoma in eastern Muskogee County in a rural area. It was ODOT’s intention to improve the existing roadway based upon the ODOT Roadway Design Manual (i.e. 3R design criteria) where applicable. Where reconstruction of the existing roadway section was necessary, the 6th Addition of A Policy on Geometric Designs of Highway and Streets (the AASHTO Green Book) design criteria was utilized. Additionally, the current ODOT Roadway Design Manual was utilized when applicable. The project improvements were centered along the existing bridge and roadway’s alignment. Additionally, our team conducted a design feasibility study and based on sound findings, rehabilitating was the design chosen by ODOT.
