HIGHLIGHTS

2,100-LF of 12-Inch Sanitary Sewer Main Relocation and Replacement

100-LF of 8-Inch Waterline Relocation through a Busy Commercial Area

The Ponca City Sanitary Sewer Improvement Program Project #5, was a 2,100 linear feet, 12-Inch sanitary sewer main relocation and replacement project with 100 linear feet, 8-Inch water line relocation through a busy commercial area.

With that, this project was completed for $518,805.47 after a final deduction of $2,439.48.

Cabbiness Engineering provided construction plans and specifications for the replacement of the problematic gravity sanitary sewer main from Prospect Avenue to Princeton Avenue. According to the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, the main is a health risk due to the sewage backups and un-wanted manhole surcharges.

The proposed construction took place in the same ditch line and easements for a majority of the 2,200+ linear feet alignment. However, there was an approximate 1,000 linear feet section that had to be moved approximately 40 feet West of the existing line to avoid existing buildings foundations.

The existing gravity sanitary sewer main size was at minimum requirement of 8-Inch diameter. The solution to the problematic main was best accomplished by the installation of a new 12-Inch gravity main. A 10-Inch main would have been adequate for the design, but the increase in size was an additional safeguard with identical installation costs.

This segment of the Ponca City sanitary sewer collection system was a maintenance nuisance for the City’s staff. And with these improvements, the City’s staff no longer has to monitor normal rainfall events and the ability to operate and maintain the sewer line was dramatically improved.
