HIGHLIGHTS

Centered Along the Existing Roadway's Alignment

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) desired to widen and reconstruct segments of the US-81 roadway section from approximately East Will Rogers Drive in Kingfisher, Oklahoma to just south of County Road EW-84 in Kingfisher County. The project was located on the southern side of Kingfisher in an area that had seen significant commercial and industrial development in previous years. It was ODOT’s intention to improve the existing roadway based upon the current ODOT Design Manual 3R design criteria, where applicable. Where reconstruction of the existing roadway section was necessary, the 6th Edition of A Policy on Geometric Designs of Highway and Streets (the AASHTO Green Book) design criteria was utilized. Additionally, the current ODOT Roadway Design Manual was also utilized when applicable. All design improvements were centered along the existing roadway’s alignment and within the limits of the existing highway right-of-way.
